On Maundy Thursday, we remember the Last Supper in the upper room where Jesus gives his disciples the mandate to love and serve one another. He demonstrates this ‘Mandate to love by washing their feet’ and so the church also takes up this practice of foot washing as a means to remind ourselves of the posture that we ought to take towards each other.
